Supporting park rangers, managers, biologists and other staff in their pursuits of training and professional development opportunities.

The Florida State Parks Foundation created the

John Kerschner Scholarship Fund

… in 2019 to provide Florida State Parks with funding to pursue professional training and development.

The scholarship fund is named for our generous benefactor, John Kerschner, who loved Florida’s state parks and visited them often.

Following his death in 2015, Mr. Kerschner made a significant bequest to the Foundation. Through his generosity, hundreds of park staff members have completed thousands of hours toward trainings, certifications and more.

“Our state parks are the best in America because we have the best people at every level of park operations. The Foundation is thankful to John Kerschner for his enduring legacy of generosity, and we are proud to provide these scholarship opportunities to staff as they pursue their professional goals.”
